Jeff McKay's home just makes sense to me. Tons of different patterns draped over the bed and different pillows all stacked up make this a terrific eclectic mix that is colorful and comfortable. These needle point pillows are original 1970's finds.
*Put up a strip of wood above your bed and (using a staple gun) staple several fabrics until you get the desired effect. So EASY! Oh, if you don't want to sew on fringe, you can hot glue it just as easily and no one will ever know.
This is Grace Cobb's bedroom in her London apartment (FLAT) Bright bedrooms make small interesting spaces more inviting and the bright colors hide things like pipes and odd details. I dig this stenciled mirror which becomes a piece of art by simply reflecting the wall in front of it.
*Stick some contact paper over a mirror and cut out your design with an X-Acto knife and then lightly spray it with some black Krylon high gloss spray paint. Let it dry and you've created a mirror just like the one above!

I just had to include this dishwasher because it makes me want to cover up my appliances with antique furniture fronts. HOW COOL IS THIS!
Again with the bright yellow. This time mixed with black and you can see that in the rest of this fantastic space that Mondrian played a huge part in the influence.
I'm thinking my round mosaic mirror (instructions in THE BIG ASS BOOK OF CRAFTS) would look terrific in these rooms.
Bright yellows are tamed with light blues. The two colors together mixed with the red floor make anything beige look depressing. I want to paint everything now, don't you?
*You don't have to keep your Ikea furniture that faux wood laminate........Hit it with some paint and watch your bed turn into something like this one here in light blue.
Simple white cabinets with black trim give this island the perfect modern feel. It's the needed rest for your eye in the middle of so much color.
Shh.......win a copy of the book by just leaving a comment here. Not telling anyone about this contest so if you get all the way to the bottom of this blog, you have a really good chance of winning! Make sure to leave your mailing address!

I always wondered what that art was! In Midland, MI, it seems to be all over. There are some houses with fences that look like that, that I believe were designed by Alden B. Dow. Here's a house you might like (http://retrorenovation.com/2011/06/15/energy-efficient-1964-dome-house-built-of-styrofoam-by-robert-schwartz-a-student-of-buckminster-fuller/). It wasn't designed by Dow but the materials were made by his family's company. ;D
